Position Description

CGI are currently looking for an experienced Data Architect to come and join our Secure Innovation & Advisory team which is part of CGI's Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit.

The area is focused primarily on the delivery of contemporary and innovativetechnical solutions for the government agencies most challenging problems.

Our teams work alongside our clients to help them understand how to exploit technologies to maintain competitive advantage.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Assess solutions to store, process and retrieve data
  • Analyse requirements to understand data needs
  • Liase with technical architects, business analysts and developers providing indepth knowledge of data models and usage
  • Assist with the definition of security and backup requirements
  • Validate physical models and make recommendations for performance as necessary
Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Leadership and Communication:

  • Designs and owns data solutions to largescale, complex problems.
  • Communicates designs and solutions effectively, in both written and spoken form, to a range of audiences.
  • Collaborates and proactively shares knowledge across the team.

Delivery:

  • Able to look at the big picture and ensure that the data models fully support business requirements.
  • Designs, implements and refines data models; logical and physical.
  • Ensures that designs support performance, security, and resilience requirements.
  • Fully documents designs including logical/physical models, data dictionary and volumetrics
  • Demonstrates a detailed understanding of modelling tools and methodologies
  • Supports Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) at the database level through CI/CD tools.
  • Produces reliable volumetrics.
  • Has an awareness and understanding of reference models applicable to their domain and how these models should be used.
  • Contributes to the technical risk register and prepares and implements appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Carries out impact assessments of requirement changes and how that affects data models.

Client:

  • Engages effectively and professionally with client team. Acts as key point of contact for data design issues.
  • Proposes solutions that address business and technical needs.
  • Thoroughly understands the scope of work and identifies potential change opportunities.

Working pattern:
due to the secure nature of the work we are operating with a hybrid working policy. We would expect our members to be in their local office as and when required. Some travel to other CGI or client sites might be required (all travel away fromyour base office is expensed)
