We are currently recruiting for an Editor to join the Port Technology International team.


The maritime industry sits at the centre of the global economy, and ports and terminals are vital to ensuring the safe passage of goods across the supply chain.

The Company


Port Technology International is a leading multi-platform media company delivering conferences in Europe and the United States, with an extended portfolio planned for 2023/2024.

PTI also produces a technical journal published bi-monthly and a world-renowned website for news, technical content and sourcing suppliers.


The Port Technology Journal is the only technical preview and review of advanced technologies for ports, harbours and terminals world-wide.

Each edition features over 30 technical papers written by leading industry professionals, which reflect emerging trends and technical advances that enhance efficiency and increase productivity in ports and terminals.


The Role
This editorial position reports directly to the Operations Director.

You will be required to develop the annual editorial strategy across online, video, social and live events to support the PTI business development strategy.


You will be working closely with sales, event production and marketing to drive the brand forward and deliver high-standard editorial content to the ports and terminals community.

The Editor will also be responsible for producing a bi-monthly journal, daily newsletter, and creating an editorial plan around PTI's events.

There will also be opportunities to moderate event sessions and host webinars.

Key to the role is building relationships with both clients and key industry figures.


Main duties and responsibilities:


  • Manage the editorial team of 2x staff reporters including training, process implementation, quarterly and annual KPI performance assessment
  • Produce 8 online journals / year including 2 x special editions
  • Create editorial direction and themes for up to 18 months into the future
  • Develop a deep understanding of the key trends in the ports, terminals and supply chain sector
  • Proof and edit Technical Papers which appear in the Journal
  • Oversee and edit content that appears on the Port Technology website
  • Maintain the PTI website with necessary content and manage social media activity
  • Research articles relevant to industry conference topics and exhibitors for website news
  • Work on multimedia content as part of client deliverables and independent editorial content
  • Assist with the creation of conference brochures and write up postevent reviews to publish online and on social media
  • Moderate webinars and events

The successful applicant will have:


  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant experience gained in a businesstobusiness editorial environment (maritime, transport or technology background highly desirable)
  • Content production experience
  • Highly organised and professional attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work well in a team but also initiative to work on your own
  • Good sense for identifying business opportunities, new revenue streams and possibilities to sell across a whole portfolio
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
