JOB DESCRIPTION Post HCA Reporting to Nursing Services Manager PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Health Care Assistant is accountable to the Nursing Services Manager To support the GPs and Practice Nursing Team in providing care and advice to patients and carers To support the surgery administration team in the preparation of patient documentation.
To provide a confidential and appropriate response to patients. To liaise closely with Practice Nurses regarding clinical competence, training, and development requirements.The Health Care Assistant will work as part of the Practice team, at times without direct supervision, undertaking tasks delegated by the Nursing Services Manager, Practice Nurses, and GPs, working very closely and liaising with the Practice Nurses in particular.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To support the nursing and doctor team in providing care and advice to patients and carers, encouraging self-care and the achievement of independence, where appropriate.
To carry out phlebotomy Carry out routine health checks as advised by the clinical lead To gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to administer basic life support if necessary.
To provide treatment room nursing care.To include wound management, venepuncture, ear irrigation and ECG, routine To maintain a professional image and always observe confidentiality To maintain accurate records of patient documentation.
To maintain accurate, timely and legible records of patient care including data input and submission of statistical information as required To prepare and maintain clinical environments according to Health & Safety and Infection Control policies.
To contribute to the ordering, distribution, and maintenance of equipment To feedback and report on the condition and welfare of patients to the appropriate clinician.
To participate in research and audit activity as appropriate To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as a direct response to surgery requirements.
Cultural LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT Ensure continuing education, training and development is undertaken to meet role specific and governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development.
Continue to develop soft skills and emotional intelligence in line with the requirements and culture and to uphold the values and culture of Belvoir Health Group.
