Role:
Project manager - National Security


Location:
London (2 days in office, 3 days working remotely)


Salary:
Up to £85,000 + car/cash allowance + 13% bonus


Current UK SC clearance required to start (Sole British passport holder)

Role Summary:


The successful applicant for this role will be accountable for managing routine projects (limited number of workstreams and dependencies, a single customer, little or no new technologies) in support of our clients in Government, Cyber Security and FinancialServices.

The typical value of these projects are £1M-£5M and will involve reporting into a client stakeholder and/or a more senior colleague.

The role may also provide the opportunity to work on complicated projects (managing discrete workstreams) under supervision.


This specific role will involve leading highly technical engineering teams working on wireless and electronic technologies, therefore successful applicants will need to be able to blend the general project management skills detailed below with a foundationlevel of engineering background in order to be able to understand enough about the project they are leading and communicate effectively with the engineering team.

Successful applicants will also need to be experienced in delivering projects using Agile methodologies.


What you will be doing:


  • Determining the best means of satisfying customer requirements within the context of project objectives and constraints, i.e. developing solutions;
  • Managing both internal and external stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and interests;
  • Developing and managing teams, including managing their delivery and performance and providing appraisal and support to their development;
  • Developing and agreeing budgets for projects and controlling forecast and actual costs against them;
  • Preparing and maintaining schedules for project activities and events, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements, showing the critical path, reporting and tracking milestones, resource levelling, baselining and tracking reporting, contingencyand risk adequately covered in the plan;
  • Consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements), escalating any divergence from the business case to the sponsor and stakeholders(as appropriate) and establishing, and implementing where necessary, protocols to change the scope of the project;
  • Producing progress reports, managing RAID items and escalating with the client and within the business as appropriate

This includes:
identifying and monitoring project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing mitigation plans, respondingto other issues that affect projects;

  • Overseeing the Change Control process and implementation of Change Request;
  • Lesson learned reports and project closure activities;
  • Promoting AI's behaviours in all actions, acting in a morally, legally and socially appropriate manner.

What we're looking for:


Essential (attributes for success in role):

  • Good understanding of PM methodologies, toolsets, process and governance;
  • PM experience demonstrated in a professional role within a business or project:
  • Duration of experience: 5+ years, Value of projects managed < £5M;
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills required with the wider team and other functions/disciplines;
  • Developing and managing teams, including managing their delivery and performance and providing appraisal and support to their development;
  • Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Managed full life cycle and project ecosystem including financial forecasting;
  • Identify, adopt and tailor good practice;
  • Bid writing experience of projects.
