THE ROLE
We are assisting our client, a major insurance company working with health, car and business-related insurance. They are looking for a qualified accountant with strong statutory reporting experience. This is a newly created role due to exciting restructuring within the business. This is a
fixed term opportunity paying between
£50, ,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring local finance teams receive reliable and accurate information for reporting.
  • Paying vendor invoices and employee expenses promptly.
  • Accurately processing the general ledger.
  • Maintain all relevant accounting records making sure they are accurate and correct.
  • Making sure relevant financial controls are in place.
  • Keeping an eye on management expenses and ensuring they are controlled in line with current budgets.
  • Assist with the management of a small team of 5 Accounting Assistants.
  • Process accounting entries and managed runoff portfolios.
  • Make sure any technical and broker ledger balances between underwriting, actuarial and general ledger systems are reconciled on a quarterly basis.
  • Keep a high standard of service to all internal clients, making sure queries and reconciliations made are responded to in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage adhoc finance projects as required.

ABOUT YOU

  • You have 35 years of financial accounting experience ideally within the insurance industry.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS accounting.
  • You have fantastic analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong technical skills with good working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.
  • You have great communication skills, being able comfortably talk to colleagues of any seniority.
  • You can work under pressure able to achieve multiple ongoing deadlines.
  • You have an ACCA, ACA or AAT qualification.
