Our client is a privately owned business and established developer in Yorkshire area with an enviable reputation for constructing a broad range of high quality properties.
Currently seeking an experienced Head of Finance with considerable experience gained in construction / residential development industry in a role incorporating accounting, financial control and commercial finance/business partnering.
The role will initially be that of Head of Finance, with the view to moving into the Finance Director position due to succession planning.
The role will be a mixture of both, office and home working.Key responsibilities for the new Appointee will include:
You will be the main point of contact within the finance team, with crucial responsibilities of providing timely management accounts and updated accurate scheme appraisals.
There will be a particular focus on control to ensure the business is operating in an efficient and compliant manner.
Further key responsibilities are expected to be:
- Producing monthly management accounts for the various company SPVs and overhead companies within the Group.
This will include monthly accounting duties such as:
- Preparing and posting monthly accruals/prepayments.
- Reconciling of the bank accounts.
- Drafting the management account packs for review.
- Reviewing the latest scheme appraisals with the onsite teams and ensuring costs to date and costs to go are correctly accounted for, with any overruns raised through the appropriate channels.
- Updating the company business plan on a monthly basis with the latest actuals, budgets and forecasts.
- Producing and maintaining monthly VAT and CIS returns where applicable.
- Refining and improving the reporting of the financials on a monthly basis. There will be scope to add value to what is currently being prepared.
- Drafting of the monthly Board Report and management packs to be issued to the Board and Shareholders.
- Overseeing the accounts payable process to ensure the approval process is being adhered to and suppliers are being paid in a timely fashion.
- Proactively seeking efficiencies to streamline the process and systems.
- To provide business partner support to the local MD and Chairman and to provide key information to the shareholders.
- To assist with the creation and maintenance of business KPIs with a particular focus on sales.
- To assist the land buying process with quality underwrite appraisals.
- To build a good relationship with the incumbent and/or new banking and debt providers.
- To build and maintain good relationships with all the departments across the business to ensure we are not working in silos and are being as collaborative as possible.
- This role would suit a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience being gained in the housebuilder/construction industry is highly sought after
- The knowledge of Sage and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is highly desirable
