We offer a range of both formal and informal proficiency and educational pathways, both uniquely developed by RDA and in partnership with other leading accredited bodies.


Role Purpose


The purpose of this role is to ensure that RDA develop and deliver the right learning opportunities to meet the needs of our participants with consideration as to how we further develop our offering to reach a wider range of disabled participants.


Specific Responsibilities
a) Work collaboratively with the wider Participation team to understand fully the needs of our participants and how we develop our participant base through our learning and development offering

b) Consider various learning and development needs and styles in the current and future offering of our learning programmes

c) Consider the opportunities, benefits and pitfalls of both formal and informal learning and development programmes and produce learning and development programmes to suit the needs of our participants

d) Develop a suite of both informal and formal learning and development programmes for the effective delivery by RDA groups or via partnership working

e) Work collaboratively with the wider RDA National Office teams to ensure the effective communication and delivery of our learning programmes, including Coaching, Member and Network Support, Communications and Fundraising teams

f) Consider how our programmes might align to the formal education system with schools and colleges

g) Understand fully the impact, both in breadth and depth, of our current learning programmes and how these might be improved for the benefit of our participants

h) Consider how our learning and development programmes might inspire, motivate, incentivise and challenge our participants to strive for enhanced benefit

i) Consider how the costs of these opportunities might impact the part

j) Lead on ASDAN awards for participants, developing and supporting programmes focused on educational reward and recognition for participants

k) Build and develop relationships with our internal network and external specialists to advise and inform our learning and development offering


General
a) To maintain good external partner relationships with sector media, British Equestrian, and others whose campaigning priorities align, working with them to push for policy change

b) Alongside other senior staff, routinely keep up with sector developments and undertake horizon scanning

c) To undertake such other duties as the Director of Business Improvement shall from time to time determine, including attending the National Championships as part of the National Office support team

d) To demonstrate the values and cultural aspirations of RDA in all work that is undertaken

e) To ensure due consideration is always given to our charitable aims and objectives and that this is demonstrated in all activities undertaken

f) To attend and service the National Championships, providing support leading up to the event as requested, as well as supporting the event itself


Budget Management Responsibilities

To effectively manage departmental budgets by:
a) Ensuring delivery of strategic aims and objectives within the constraints of budgets set and availability of funding

b) Highlighting and managing any budget exceptions in a timely manner with a view to ensuring a balanced budget

c) Appropriately monitoring and managing spend on external consultancies supporting RDA in relation to the department's deliverables


Person Specification
Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge or experience of working in training or education
  • Uptodate knowledge of professional learning design, technologies, and best practice
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to set and achieve targets independently to agreed deadlines
  • Able to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at forming and maintaining positive relationships
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good customer service skills

  • Experience of working with volunteers
