£21,708 - £29, /3 for unsocial hours) (placement on scale dependent on qualifications) - pro rata for part time hours.

We are looking to recruit Night Care Workers to provide care and support to young people in a safe and stimulating setting ensuring we cater for their physical, emotional, social, health and educational needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


You will assist in the provision of a safe, caring environment for all the young people in Rossie:
(a) Ensure that the rights of the young person are safeguarded and that they are treated with respect and dignity;
(b) Ensure appropriate boundaries within which young people can feel safe and protected from harm;
(c) Assist with the establishment and maintenance of good basic care which includes safe, comfortable surroundings, high standards of personal care and good food, helping to establish consistent routines;
(d) Help in the monitoring of the young people's health needs and within Rossie guidelines actively encourage the avoidance of health risks and the development of a healthy lifestyle;
(e) Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with the young people in our care;
(f) Encourage young people to make the most of all the educational/learning opportunities available within the 24 hour Curriculum.


You will assist in the creation implementation of placement plans, particularly with regard to night time settling routines:
(a) Ensure that each young person's assessed needs are met by the implementation of their bedtime plan;
(b) To be aware of the main issues for each young person and that bedtime plans are being adhered to;
(c) Ensure that each young person's well being is assessed at regular intervals throughout the night;
(d) Ensure that records are kept up to date and to an acceptable standard;
(e) In consultation with the Duty Manager (Nights), ensure that where bedtime plans are not in place, are no longer effective or are not required, that this information is recorded and communicated in handovers.


You will ensure that the necessary administrative work is efficiently carried out to support the professional task:
(a) Maintain appropriate records relating to the young persons behaviour and welfare;
(b) Be knowledgeable of the relevant legislation and practice issues relating to young people in care and participate in appropriate training and self development;
(c) Actively participate in supervision/consultation processes and meetings as required;
(d) Such other duties as may be required for the effective running of the House;
(e) Familiarise oneself with the all Rossie's procedures;
(f) Actively listening to our stakeholders by being helpful and polite at all times.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:


Knowledge Base (Essential):


  • Understanding of child care legislation;
  • Understanding of Children (Scotland) Act 1995 & Children's Hearing (Scotland) Act 2011;
  • Knowledge of care planning;
  • Knowledge of intervention models for children & families.

Knowledge Base (Desirable):


  • Cognitive behavioural skills;
  • Knowledge of LAC materials; ;
  • Knowledge of child protection and child development.

Qualifications (Essential):


  • HNC & SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care, or ability to successfully undertake & complete award through Rossie Learning Partnership Agreement, within specified timescales;

Qualifications (Desirable):


  • HNC and SVQ Level 3 Social Care;
  • Dip Social Work;
  • CQSW;
  • CSS.

Experience (Essential):


  • Experience of Residential Care.

Experience (Desirable):


  • Employment in Youth Work and Child Care.

Skills (Essential):


  • Formulate and implement care plans;
  • Risk assessment and needs analysis;
  • Ability to verbally communicate with young people and other professionals;
  • Experience of advocacy and representation on behalf of young people;
  • Ability to build and sustain appropriate relationships with young people and colleagues;
  • Experience of liaison/networking with other professionals;
  • Experience of intervention with young people and their families;
  • Experience of appropriate record keeping.
