WHAT TO EXPECT
This role is responsible for the design quality and delivery of all visible parts of vehicles.

This role will work with Designers who, along with the Design Manager, will be responsible for developing the Design Vision, through to the co-ordination of feasible solutions, maturation of design solutions in virtual and physical properties, releases to tooling and involvement / engagement with Launch teams through the Prototype build phases.


There will be requirement to instruct, coach and work with, dependent teams such as Surfacing Team, Clay/CAS teams, Cubing, DMO, Body Engineering and Programme teams.


The role will also require a level of Design acumen, ensuring that everything is done to meet gateway requirements whilst preserving and enhancing Design Leadership.


This is a creative role, being involved in the definition, maturation and ultimately the balanced, optimised delivery of the 'go for one' proposal for all vehicle programmes.

You must meet strategic objectives set by and agreed with the Design Manager, Senior Design Manager and Design Director.


WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Development and implementation of design solutions required in the delivery of programmes
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the Design Studio and manage expectation to ensure delivery targets are met
  • Lead on their specific interior or exterior project and act as one of the points of contact for other functions or stakeholders
  • Interface with crossfunctional teams to ensure twoway communication and feedback on project feasibility
  • Develop the virtual and physical design properties of their specific project, to the highest level of maturity and refinement
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
  • Frequent support and deputising to the Design Manager

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

  • Proven previous experience and ability in illustration and visual evaluation skills to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Proven experience of aesthetic judgement of surface, surface juxtaposition and appearance gained in a similar role
  • Broad knowledge of engineering and production techniques and processes, and strong market / business acumen
  • Previous experience of the generation of designs for production and concept vehicles, including experience of visualising and communicating design solutions in 2D and 3D
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Design related systems, e.g. ALIAS / VRED / Photoshop / Power-Point
  • Knowledge of design roles, from concept generation to production ready design delivery
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience of the automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness
  • Have proven ability as a team member
  • Have experience of all design roles, from concept generation to production ready design delivery.
