About the team
The Merchant SRE team provides second and third level Application Support, supporting the FIS Merchant Solutions Acquiring Platform. The Acquiring Platform is responsible for the clearing, reporting and settlement of transactions to our customers and card schemes.

It also provides a front-end for Operations to manage our customers and interacts with third parties to process disputed transactions.


What you will be doing:


  • Troubleshooting and investigation of production incidents following ITSM processes
  • Problem and defect management
  • Drive continuous improvement in the SDLC CI/CD Pipeline
  • Conduct codelevel software analysis and fault finding to identify root cause and resolution
  • Interface with internal clients, business managers, Product and Development teams to resolve incidents and support permanent fix
  • Represent team on crossfunctional initiatives for production, support, and development activities
  • Interpret and present data and analysis to management and other stakeholders as needed
  • Provide QA for production change
  • Provide 24 x 7 oncall support for production systems
  • Define, develop, and maintain production support documentation in our knowledge base
  • Support of Disaster Recovery, Code Release, and other change events
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and work towards achieving best practice
  • Creation of scripts for process automation and workarounds
  • Work closely with Engineering teams on migration and deployment work
  • Verify alignment of new products or code with FIS global standards

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Service management ethos and disciplined approach to management of support tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a variety of influencing styles
  • Show a desire to take the initiative, moving issues forward with clarity. Demonstrate an ability to think 'outside the box' while defining solutions in a workable form
  • Understand the role of Site Reliability Engineer and the role that plays in an organisation
  • Excellent Communications skills, written and spoken
  • Knowledge of ITSM and SDLC / Agile processes
  • Build trust, willing to express opinions in debates, buy into decisions showing accountability
  • Technical skills in the following areas

Essential - one or more of the following:

  • Oracle IAM or other Identity and Access Management tools
  • Oracle Weblogic & Fusion Middleware
  • Siebel Mobile Client, Siebel eMail Automation, Siebel
  • Excel Integration, Marketing, Consumer Goods, Sales, eScript, Tools, Configuration, EAI, VB

Desired:


  • Experience in PL/SQL and Oracle Databases


  • Operational Tooling

  • Shell Scripts, Ansible
  • Experience in supporting APIs
  • Knowledge of supporting Kafka Topics
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud connectivity and concepts
  • Unix / Linux skills

Added bonus if you have:


  • Knowledge of the global payments industry or a good understanding of payments transaction life cycle will be an advantage
  • Experience with Identity & Access management migrations
  • Knowledge of Control-M scheduling


  • Knowledge of Networks

  • Firewalls, DDOS, F5 LTM & GTM
  • Knowledge of containerisation (Docker & Kubernetees) & onprem server concepts (VMWare)
