Overview:


Our client is developing a portfolio of GW solar farms in southern Europe through a combination of utility scale solar photovoltaic plants and battery storage facilities.

They seek to secure a Construction Director who has experience of leading construction of large scale photovoltaic solar parks and has the network, insight and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver a world class solar asset.


Responsibilities:


The Construction Director will oversee, coordinate and direct the development activities of the project, commercial workstreams, construction and operations contracting, being the link between the owners, stakeholders and the developers.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan, manage and oversee all construction operations and the interface between all stakeholders (project owner, lenders, developers, clients and technical advisors)
  • Set the project guidelines in terms of timesheet, budget, quality standards, also including construction activities to be realized.
  • Ensuring HSSEQ goals, objectives and targets are met through personal leadership and involvement.
  • Safe delivery and handover of the Project to the Owner, sustainably, safely, on time, within budget, ensuring that a quality product is produced that represents 'best value' for the Owner and their Stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the Construction teams in the coordination of all Construction activities for the project.
  • Ensure all aspects of Construction work scopes are being effectively managed and performed by developer and other Construction Contractors.
  • Ensure Engineering contractor and Construction Contractors are adhering to Project HSSE and Quality standards.
  • Ensure construction personnel are competent to perform their duties relating to the scope of work as identified in the Contract.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Champion the Project Safety culture, behaviors and engagement activities.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and resolving Construction issues during the EPC phase of the works.
  • Ensure an effective safety plan on Construction Site during construction, pre
- commissioning, commissioning and start-up of the Project.

  • Chair construction weekly review meetings and monthly progress meetings and ensure the recording of significant agreements reached and/or joint decisions made between all parties
  • Fostering an atmosphere of fruitful and active cooperation and teamwork between Contractor, and Owner's responsible Construction Site personnel, while maintaining a vigilant attention to the required standards and quality of work.
  • Seeking agreements with the Owner on procedures and requirements for closing out contractor site activities at the Construction Site completion.
  • Coordinate with Licensors for Construction Site visits/inspections at site.
  • Review Contractor's Construction procedures, specifications, method statements and fabrication drawings.
  • Review Contractor's Construction, organization, coordination procedures, manpower plans and schedules.
  • Review all matters related to constructing engineering and provide Constructability input to 30/60/90% Model Reviews.
  • Monitor the allocation of all Construction resources in consideration of relative priorities to meet the Construction program and recommend any appropriate corrective actions where shortage of resources might prejudice the work program.
  • Monitor the planned and actual delivery of equipment and material to site and the handling, storage, maintenance, preservation and installation of such equipment and materials.
  • Review and approval of Permit to Work and coordination with Owner Operations and Maintenance personnel as necessary.
  • Review and monitor the work performed by the Contractor and monitor quality and compliance with Contract and Project Schedule.
  • Supervise Construction inspection activities carried out by the Contractor.
  • Monitor and coordinate the corrective actions and recommendation of the Construction work performed by Contractor.
  • Verify that the work and corrective work is performed in compliance with the Contract and Owner

Qualifications:

  • The Construction Director will have at least 20 years of experience in construction management on large scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in construction process and procedures of photovoltaic construction projects is a requirement
  • Experience in battery storage construction projects
  • Capable of effectively enforcing contractual conditions and interfacing with all key stakeholders.

  • Flexibility to travel frequently to construction site in Southern Europe and other European locations connected with the delivery of the project
