The primary role is to care for children, so it is important that you have the relevant knowledge to handle this task.

You need to have a warmth about you. Having a nurturing or empathetic personality can help you connect with children naturally. Being a nurturer also includes being a giver.

You need to be able to put children's needs above your own and help them develop morally, socially, and cognitively.

Being a strong listener also contributes to setting fair and firm boundaries. Having the drive to succeed and expand is crucial as you need to put in the work and hours.

Communication skills

Time management

You should be able to create and manage a schedule that accounts for arriving at work on time and ensuring that things will be done within the right time frame.

Inventory skills

Manage supplies and stock levels.

It is essential to monitor supplies, maintain appropriate reorder levels, and place requests in a timely manner to prevent an emergency.

Physical energy

The job is tasking and involves physical labour. It is vital you possess physical dexterity.

You will develop your interpersonal skills by engaging with others, learning common social cues in the workplace, and finding ways to understand your colleagues' ideas and input.

Major tasks duties and responsibilities

Keep all units of the nursery clean and safe
Ensure appliances and equipment are in good working condition
Learn to use all appliances safely and efficiently
Be knowledgeable of green issues
Responsible for completing kitchen tasks and food preparation
Responsible for the maintenance of kitchen equipment and accessories
Prepare all food items in a timely manner
Receive visitors and show around
Check clothes for cleanliness, stains, and tears, sort them for washing, spot removal and mending
Observe appliances for changes in pressure, water levels, temperature etc
Report and supervise the repair of damaged or loose fixtures, flooring or tiling requiring replacement or repair, and any unsafe or malfunctioning appliance.
Responsible for the cleaning of washers and dryers following directions on product usage
Serve as a driver to take children to and from school
