Brown&Co has an exciting opportunity to join our Agri-Environmental Consultancy team in our Wyboston office.This exciting role may suit a recent graduate, or a year in industry student, wishing to take on a development role to gain environmental business consultancy experience.
You will be part of the Environmental Consultancy team supporting farmers and landowners in the Cambridgeshire area.You will assist clients navigating through the change in subsidy support, away from the Common Agricultural Policy towards the UK's flagship Environmental Land Management Scheme through designing and monitoring land management schemes.
Through this internship you will learn a diverse array of valuable skills, techniques and practices that are essential for working in the sector.
You will be exposed to a variety of everyday agricultural issues and will work the team to offer practical environmental solutions.
Through working in our Wyboston office, you will also work alongside skilled and talented colleagues across land agency, commercial, architecture and planning who will make sure you gain the most from your time with us.
Work Focus
- Be part of a team that truly cares about supporting British farmers and helping them to deliver public goods
- Develop good IT skills, including mapping tools such as PEAR Technology software and Trimble GPS measuring
- Gain skills and experience needed for employment in the consultancy sector (e.g., teamwork, written and verbal communication, client management and understanding business support).
Job responsibilities
- Attend meetings with farmers and landowners
- Assist staff with some office and administrative duties as required
- Act always in a professional manner that preserves the Brown & Co's core values
- Ensure effective communications with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and systems
- Any other duties as delegated by the Environmental team.
Person Specification
Applicants need to have some knowledge of conservation principles, soil management, carbon management and ecology from degree study; but full training will be provided on the job.
To have either completed a degree in Environmental Science / Ecology, or be undertaking a Year in Industry from one of these degrees.
A full UK drivers licence and willingness to travel around the counties.
