An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to a Band 7 post to lead our friendly Theatre Support Services.

You will be working across campus 5 days a week and there is a commitment to on call duties.


We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with the appropriate experience and skills to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the skills to support further development of these expanding services.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to be able to work flexibly in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills including time management, prioritisation and organisation.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build on the network required for the role.

You will also be able to demonstrate that you have successfully lead change previously and evidence of delivering initiatives and new ways of working.

Take responsibility for supporting the team leaders / matrons to ensure that the standards and quality of care together with the environment, in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.

Be an effective leader and role model

Support the governance team with obtaining feedback from patients and users and devising appropriate actions / improvement plans.


Work flexibly as a member of the theatre/recovery leadership team (covering for any absence) to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved.

Effective resource management

Manage the theatre maintenance programme and any associated infrastructure to facilitate the modernisation of patient services.

In conjunction with the governance team support the Health & Safety agenda

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive theatre/recovery experience some of which should be at a leadership level
  • Experience in coordinating theatre/recovery department
Desirable criteria

  • Experience in more than one speciality
  • Experience with business continuity processes both writing plans and delivering in emergency situations e.g. fire, electrical failures etc.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • BSc in relevant Healthcare Practice or working towards a BSc in relevant Healthcare Practice.
  • NMC / HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria

  • Management course
Leadership

Essential criteria

  • Adopts an effective leadership style, gaining respect and commitment from others
  • Promotes a supportive environment where staff feel valued
Role Specific Expertise

Essential criteria

  • Able to coordinate departmental infrastructure failures/unexpected events fire alarms/electrical failures etc
  • Formulation of Business Continuity Plans
  • Awareness of theatre environments and associated legislation relating to their maintenance
Desirable criteria

  • Health & Safety Managers Course
  • Experience of managing a multidisciplinary approach to infrastructure maintenance

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
