The Employee Relation team's purpose is to build a positive and safe work environment for employees through implementing global policies and processes in partnership with Legal, Compliance, HR colleagues and employee representative groups such as the European Consultation Committee, Works Councils and Unions.


As the ER Investigation Lead - UK, you will work independently ensuring a thorough and fair investigation process is followed when it comes to claims regarding harassment, bullying, sexual harassment or any claim regarding discrimination ("SH&BH" cases).

Responsibilities_**- Manage SH&BH investigations, relating to UK based colleagues, ensuring legal requirements and compliance obligations are considered throughout the investigation process.


  • Proposing the right disciplinary action in the case of substantiated outcomes. Ensuring outcomes are consistent, fair and legally compliant.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate case reports, summarising and analysing often sophisticated information, to create clear, pragmatic and legally accurate recommendations in respect of SH&BH investigations.
  • Partnering with Compliance and Legal teams to maintain the highest standards regarding SH&BH investigations.
  • Ensure the policies on SH&BH for the UK are appropriate, legally compliant, and well communicated to the business, employees and contractors, including the design of appropriate training.
  • Partner with the Global Employee Relations team to build SH&BH capabilities within the business and the HR community.
  • Providing guidance and support to HR Business Partners in the investigation and resolution of informal and formal employee issues.
  • Work in partnership with Global Director Employee Relations and Global Employee Relations team to monitor metrics and identify problems and solutions in the SH&BH area.
  • Monitor SH&BH trends and practices through the analysis of external and internal HR metrics.
  • Ensuring the development and delivery of training programs on SH&BH to leadership and colleagues, increasing capability, to create a respectful workplace that is highly ethical, compliant and consistent with AZ's values.
  • Advise and coach business leadership regarding complex and sensitive employee relations matters, including how to manage misconduct issues through early intervention and appropriate corrective action.
  • Liaise with the business senior leadership team on SH&BH issues and collaborate with local HR Business Partners and other Centres of Excellence to ensure that programmes adopted have a positive impact on employee relations.
  • Supporting senior management in the development of positive employee relations in the area of SH&BH.
  • Leading special projects and teams in case of specific projects.

Essential requirements:
_**- Law degree or previous experience in Employee Relations, Legal or Compliance departments.

  • Experience of dealing with complex and sensitive investigations and ER cases.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to analyse factual information and present that information as part of the investigative process.
  • Good knowledge of interviewing and questioning techniques.
  • Natural curiosity with an ability to facilitate deeper thinking around individual cases.
  • Possess a proven track record of displaying patience, empathy and tenacity during the execution of investigations.

Desirable requirements:
_**- Supervisory experience and proven experience driving change is preferable.

  • Specific experience on SH&BH cases is preferable.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferable.
