At the University of Essex International College, we're looking to appoint a College Services Advisor to join our successful team and support international students preparing to study undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Essex. At the heart of our educational approach is a belief in helping students become independent, motivated learners who will thrive in higher education.


The University of Essex International College has been set up in partnership with the University of Essex to provide new routes for international students wishing to study degrees.

The University of Essex is one of the most international universities in Britain and is also known for its bold approach to teaching, research and innovation.

Located in the historic Constable Building on the University's Colchester campus, the College delivers undergraduate Foundation, International Year One, Pre-Master's and Pre-Sessional English programmes and a range of other support and extracurricular services.


The Role


The College Services Advisor provides a vital role in supporting the administrative services provided to staff and students within the College.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with daytoday customer enquiries at the College Services reception desk
  • Assisting with the organisation and running of the college induction programme
  • Assisting with events, accommodation, financial or welfare administration as required
  • Updating student data management systems
  • Conducting onetoone support tutorials with students liaising with academic staff as appropriate
  • Assisting with the development of the College social programme
  • Supporting with all studentbased services and Progression teams as required


In addition to the above areas, each of our College Services Advisors will have areas of specialisation based on their skill set.


These areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Student welfare Safeguarding
  • Student progression and data reporting
  • Class and exam timetable administration
  • HR administration
  • College and student finance administration
  • College image standards
  • Event planning and coordination
  • College social media maintenance
  • Visa compliance administration
  • Strong interest and experience in working with international students
  • A proven track record of solid customer service skills and teamwork
  • An ability to work in a busy environment and a flexible approach to work
  • Excellent Excel and IT skills, including analysing data
  • Good attention to detail and experience in handling sensitive information
  • Experience of working in UK education, EFL or the international student sector is desirable
