The Role

Job Purpose:
To ensure cleanliness of all plant, portable accommodation, yard and workshop areas is maintained. Manage and store fencing and barriers and maintain accommodation fleet. Forklift and driving Licence an advantage. This role is temporary on a 9-month fixed term contract.


Job Specific Outcomes:

  • Workshop and Yard areas to be always kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Tools to be stored and work benches to be kept tidy and free from clutter.
  • Cleaning of plant, tools and accommodation as it is returned into the yards from hire.
  • Repairs, painting and maintenance work to be completed on any accommodation being made ready for hire.
  • Repairs made to any damaged fencing, barriers and panels coming back in from hire.
  • Load and offload vehicles checking materials and accommodation being returned, for repairs and damages.
  • Work closely with the Hire desk to ensure maximum utilisation of Internal plant and accommodation is achieved.
  • Carry out any PAT testing requirements.
  • Make up orders for delivery/collection.
  • Ensure returned damaged equipment is tagged up accordingly and stored in its designated area within the yard/workshop.
  • Operate Forklift as and when required.
  • Re fuelling plant and vehicles when required.
  • Assist with any other general duties as deemed necessary by the Yard Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to Yard Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Ensure best safe working practices are always adhered to and that appropriate PPE is worn at all times by staff.
  • Liaise with other team members, including hire team and transport, where required.

Desired Experience

  • Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
  • Working within the plant hire industry or construction industry would be beneficial however is not essential.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team to ensure team objective and targets are met including identifying potential areas of performance improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure and at the same time maintain standards and perform to expected standards.

ICT Skills Required

  • Use of Microsoft Office is an advantage.
