Job Summary


The post holder will have responsibility for raising funds from a variety of community sources, developing relationships with fundraisers and groups.

The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of an effective volunteer programme throughout the organisation, including recruitment.

The post holder will lead the delivery, monitoring and reporting of the sustainable approach to volunteer management across the organisation to ensure the best volunteer experience for our volunteers.

Project and partnership development will form part of this role, in line with Approach's strategy.


Duties and Responsibilities of Post Holder:

Fundraiser

  • Working closely with the Head of Charity, input into the strategic fundraising direction for Approach.
  • Plan and deliver effective, exciting and appropriate fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of Approach's response to relevant local and national dementia campaigns.
  • Deliver a range of fundraising activities across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
  • Attend fundraising and other events as required, potentially in a wide range of locations across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and requiring travel. This may involve some evening and weekend work.
  • Identify and secure opportunities to receive non-cash support, such as pro bono work, volunteering opportunities or further such donations.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with potential fundraisers both as individuals and with larger organisations such as local funders, community groups and businesses.
  • Act as an ambassador for Approach Dementia Support to build awareness of Approach's services and the work it does to help local people affected by dementia.
  • Monitor, evaluate and identify key learning points from each community fundraised activity to assess further development opportunities.

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Working closely with the Head of Charity, input into the volunteer strategic direction for Approach.
  • Working with the service leads assess the volunteer needs and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Lead on the recruitment of volunteers using a variety of platforms and techniques.
  • Lead on the induction and training requirements for volunteers, working closely with the teams across Approach.

- ordinate the distribution of resources.


  • Co-ordinate regular volunteer communications.
  • Develop volunteer fundraising groups.
  • Effectively collate and maintain volunteer data up-to-date, accurate and held securely on our database.
  • Celebrate the contribution of our volunteers throughout the year and particularly during Volunteers Week.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the organisation. Develop positive and efficient lines of communication with the general public, statutory and voluntary organisations to raise awareness of and promote the use of Approach services.
  • Working closely with the Head of Charity, ensure the organisation complies with
Health and Safety requirements relevant to volunteering.


  • Ensure systems are in place to support volunteers in line with organisational policy regarding appropriate supervision.
  • Working closely with the Head of Strategic Alliance ensure the IT systems in place are efficient and effective to support the volunteering within the organisation

General

  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • To work with staff to ensure the philosophies and values of Approach are embedded in the culture of the organisation.
  • Support staff to uphold a nurturing and 'non-blame' culture across the organisation.
  • Ensure there are effective systems in place to support staff in maintaining good practice and safe staffing levels in all areas of responsibility.
  • Where applicable delegate tasks to appropriately competent staff.
  • Ensure appropriate work schedules are in place to support service delivery across the organisation.
  • Work to organisational financial standing instructions.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff and volunteers promoting good working relationships, due regard, respect and value within the organisation.
