We are delighted to offer an vacancy to join a team of 32 Consultants working across two sites at the University Hospital of North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

You will join the Trust at a very exciting time as it begins, with other local providers to take forward the integrated care programme.

As part of our drive to ensure our services are developed and based upon our populations needs now and in the future this post will be pivotal in delivering a seamless service.

The Anaesthetics Directorate at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust sits within the Collaborative Care Group, which incorporates Trauma & Orthopaedics, Elective Care, Breast services, Critical Care, Peri Operative services & Pain Management Services.

The Trust provides acute and community services to the population of Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, East Durham and surrounding areas including a large part of Sedgefield, with a budget of £310 million and 5,500 employees.

Both sites have formal accreditation from the NHS for Cancer Unit status and Trauma unit status is based at the University Hospital of North Tees.

The newly appointed Consultant Anaesthetist will join an existing establishment of 32 Consultants within North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be involved in cross-site working between the University Hospital of North Tees and the University Hospital of Hartlepool.

The main duties of the role are to provide consultant led anaesthetic care for patients, both in elective and emergency settings and also have sessions in Intensive Care Medicine.

The on-call commitment is 1:12 and is solely for Intensive Care.

On-Call for Theatres and Obstetrics is provided by a separate consultant anaesthetist although there is always good communication and teamwork between all resident and non-resident staff on-call.

On-calls at the weekend are usually 24-hours with support from juniors in a 3 tier rota.

The new appointee will be expected to attend five fixed clinical sessions with the remaining sessions being allocated to pre and post-operative visits, emergency duty, administration, teaching, non-resident on-call (anaesthesia and critical care) and the weekend trauma list.

The Trust is committed to developing the Clinical Directorate structure and is very keen for the Consultant staff to develop their management potential.

The Trust has a development programme to give interested consultants management training to support the pathway to leadership.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones.

We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition - a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.

We support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

We recruit for values and "Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool"
