Job description:


The Data Exploitation (DEx) functional role in DIO is to deliver services to the whole organisation and its customers to manage and exploit data - thus supporting realisation of the Strategy for Defence Infrastructure whilst aligning to the Defence Digital Strategy.

The objective being to have one source of the truth - that is reused again and again to support effect decision making to by understanding how defence infrastructure assets are performing.

The challenge is to drive consistency in that data and increase the use of corporate systems moving away from standalone spreadsheets.

The DIO has introduced the framework to support this objective by producing the Infrastructure Data and Management Information Strategy and creating the Federated Data Architecture.


SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the Deputy Head DEx (Asset Information Management), the Assistant Head DEx (Asset Information Management) is a key role with responsibility to embedding Asset Information Management throughout Defence.

The DEx Asset Information Management (AIM)

AH leads the Central AIM Team:

two SEOs; Senior Asset Information Manager and Senior Data Standards Manager, three HEOs; AIM Common Data Environment (CDE) Manager, AIM Manager and Data Standards Manager and three EOs AIM Manager, AIM CDE Technician and AIM CDE Support.

They will support the AIM DH to embed the Infrastructure Data and Management Information Strategy, Asset Information Framework, Federated Data Architecture, Digital Information Process and Infrastructure Data Standards into Defence supporting alignment where possible with Industry Standards.


The DEx AIM AH role provides support to MOD Infrastructure stakeholders to work within the Federated Data Architecture and supports the changes required to make this happen, encouraging the correct behaviours of Infrastructure staff in understanding the value of information and how it will be managed and controlled.


The function provides the business with and end-to-end AIM system that spans definition, through collection to eventual destruction of information.

Leadership and Management of the Asset Information Management Team, including commitment to mid and end of year reviews and learning and development plane.

Encouraging innovation, championing diversity & inclusion (D&I), tackling weakness and developing strengths.

  • Responsible for the AIM Team Plan and risk register, escalating the risk as necessary.
  • Management of AIM Business Cases, subsequent contract management and forecast of out turn.
  • Manage Information Review, surveys and implement recommendations.
  • Manage programme to implement the Infrastructure Data & Management Information Strategy.
  • Oversee management and development of the Asset Information Management Common Data Environment.
  • Oversee roll out and successful embedment of the Asset Information Management Common Data Environment.
  • Oversee management and development of the Reference Data Library.
  • Drive adherence to the Reference Data Library.
  • Support implementation of the Strategy for Defence Infrastructure.
  • Attend relevant Industry forums and introduce relevant asset information management best practice and alignment to industry standards.
  • Drive adherence to ISO Building Information Modelling), throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Drive the implementation, support and maintenance of the Asset Information Management Framework and Digital Information Process.
  • Support development of infrastructure contract schedules for data and information management.
