5 days hours worked per week (Actual salary from £21,000).

4 days - 26 hours worked (Actual salary £16,800)

3 days hours (Actual salary £12,600)


This is an excellent starter role for someone interested in a career in teaching and has experience of working with young people and teenagers.

Or for a returning teaching who doesn't want the responsibility of planning and marking student work. We currently require an enthusiastic and motivated cover supervisor to provide supervision for classes.

When cover is not required in school, you will support the school with administrative processes, such as preparing resources, exam preparation or supporting small groups with additional learning needs.

You will also be a daily Tutor or Link Tutor and help support the school's tutorial programme.

JOB TITLE:
Cover Supervisor and Form/Link Tutor


GRADE:9 Starting from £27,344 (actual salary £21,000)

Lead Cover Supervisor


HOURS: 32.5 (School day from 8: Term time only


Purpose of the Job
To work under the guidance of the lead cover supervisor and within an agreed system of supervision, to:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. The primary focus when supervising will be to maintain good order and to keep students on task. The Cover Supervisor will need to respond to questions and generally assist students to undertake set activities;
  • Supervise students in a separated learning environment;
  • Provide specialist support within department areas, as directed by the Human Resources Manager, Business Manager or Headteacher, including preparation, and organisation of resources and support to staff and students when cover is not required;
  • Provide supervision at breaks and lunchtimes on a daily basis;
  • Supervise tutor sessions on a daily basis;
  • Provide general support across the school as directed, when cover is not required.

The Cover Supervisor will:

- supervise and provide particular support for students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities;
- use classroom/teaching skills/training/experience to support students;
- promote positive values, attitudes good student behaviour and health and safety, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour
- manage the behaviour of students whilst they are working to ensure an appropriate learning environment which is purposeful, orderly and productive including
- completing electronic registers for registrations and every class at the start of the lesson;
- dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures;
- collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher;
- rewarding students, where appropriate, in accordance with school procedures;
- reporting as appropriate, using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of students during class, any issues arising;
