Ocean Recovery & Wellness Centre is a unique and innovative private Drug & Alcohol Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre situated on Blackpool's North Promenade, with superb views of Blackpool beach and the sea.

Supporting our clients in achieving their identified goals and aspirations is pivotal.

We support people through detoxification and in to our unparalleled and inventive rehabilitation programme. This consists of group work, 1:1 keyworker sessions, therapeutic and alternative interventions. We also link in with AA and NA, currently by Zoom.

We are seeking a dedicated assistant psychologist to join our team at Ocean Recovery.

You will be responsible for talking with clients in psychotherapy sessions, conducting assessments and tests, diagnosing any issues, and developing strategies and treatments to overcome them.


Duties:


  • Using psychotherapy to improve the quality of life for individuals, groups, and families.
  • Testing and assessing patients for indications of mental health disorders.
  • Developing treatment plans and strategies to help clients
  • Supporting clients who have experienced traumatic life events.
  • Signposting for ongoing care and evaluation to patients with longterm difficulties.
  • Referring clients to other specialists or doctors as needed.
  • Helping clients to set realistic goals and monitoring their progress.
  • Keeping up to date with and potentially participate in new research in psychology.

The Assistant Psychologist plays a crucial role in the delivery of psychological care to clients within Ocean Recovery. Their main responsibility is to support and enhance the professional psychological care provided by qualified psychologists.


One of the key tasks of an Assistant Psychologist is to assist in the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based psychosocial and psychological interventions for individuals with substance misuse and co-existing mental health problems.

They work under the supervision and guidance of a qualified psychologist, following a plan that has been agreed upon.


The Assistant Psychologist is expected to work independently within the agreed plan, ensuring that the interventions provided are in line with the team's policies, procedures, manuals, and protocols.

They are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism while working with clients.


In addition to providing direct care to clients, Assistant Psychologists may also be involved in various administrative tasks such as data collection, record keeping, and report writing.

They may also assist in conducting assessments and psychological tests, as well as analyzing and interpreting the results.


Furthermore, Assistant Psychologists are often involved in multidisciplinary team meetings, where they contribute their expertise and insights to inform the overall treatment and care plan for clients.

They may also participate in research projects and contribute to the development of new interventions or interventions
