We are a super, successful and one of the UKs longest established Charities and are looking for a Housing Officer to act as a first point of contact & support for residents and to deliver the day-to-day housing management services.
Our history as an Almshouse Charity dates back to 1527 and we have a property portfolio that includes Grade II listed buildings and a new, award-winning state of the art Almshouse.
We are searching for a housing officer to join our team and help support in the management of the property portfolio and programmes that promote the wellbeing and independence of residents.
You should have a genuine interest in people, housing, customer service and in making a positive contribution to helping develop a thriving, supportive and friendly environment for our residents to promote wellbeing and independence.
About You:
- Ideally, you will be qualified to at least at 'A' level standard, with excellent English, numeracy and communications skills, and be familiar with property management and maintenance matters.
- You will have a cando attitude, be selfsufficient, able to work on your own initiative and have high professional standards for customer service delivery.
- You will have a strong personal and professional set of values that help you perform your work, collaboratively, safely and effectively.
About the Role:
- Estate management within a small team, deliver and manage housing related services including, void management, repairs, visits to applicants, report writing.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, contractors, the charity's trustees, GPs and statutory agencies such as DWP, Social Services, local authority.
- Work with residents on any issues concerning money management, health, personal and social matters that affect their general wellbeing and signpost and liaise with appropriate agencies.
- Record and keep under review the effectiveness and appropriateness of care and support services provided to residents by others.
- Be alert to potential Safeguarding cases working with the Sheltered Housing Officer & Clerk to the Directors, raise online safeguarding reports to Adult Social Care as appropriate.
- Manage any breaches of licence or inappropriate behaviour by residents.
- Support the Finance Manager in the management of arrears of weekly charges, including liaising with the resident, Housing Benefits Department/DWP as required.
- Providing general housing advice to applicants, informing them of the process, criteria and waiting list details.
- Requires working occasionally at the weekend to remotely undertake the resident call up
- Requires any other reasonable task to be performed as directed.
