Tate is proud to partner with a local client known for its positive impact and vision. We are currently seeking a dedicated Finance Controller to join their team in Hemel Hempstead.
This role plays a crucial part in the success of the business, overseeing various finance functions and contributing to the timely production of financial reports, efficient cash collection, and invoice management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a small finance team, including workload allocation and recruitment during busy periods
- Timely generation and submission of sales invoices
- Handling customer statements, reminder letters, and following up on overdue accounts
- Liaising closely with sales and operations teams to support with overdue invoices and payments
- Supervising the process of receipting purchase invoices into the system and ensuring accurate recording and coding
- Coordinating weekly supplier payment runs and managing subcontractors' CIS statuses
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assisting in the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and reports, reporting any variances
- Monthly issuance of Work In Progress statements to the Finance Director
- Supporting monthend and yearend close processes
- Ensuring compliance with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Proper recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions
Key Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Essential experience with Xero; familiarity with other accounting software is advantageous
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Basic accounts or financial training
- Previous experience and knowledge as a finance controller
- Ability to handle change and produce significant output with mínimal supervision
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Passion for delivering highquality work and achieving goals
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
