£32,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience

Tate is proud to partner with a local client known for its positive impact and vision. We are currently seeking a dedicated Finance Controller to join their team in Hemel Hempstead.

This role plays a crucial part in the success of the business, overseeing various finance functions and contributing to the timely production of financial reports, efficient cash collection, and invoice management.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Managing a small finance team, including workload allocation and recruitment during busy periods
  • Timely generation and submission of sales invoices
  • Handling customer statements, reminder letters, and following up on overdue accounts
  • Liaising closely with sales and operations teams to support with overdue invoices and payments
  • Supervising the process of receipting purchase invoices into the system and ensuring accurate recording and coding
  • Coordinating weekly supplier payment runs and managing subcontractors' CIS statuses
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and reports, reporting any variances
  • Monthly issuance of Work In Progress statements to the Finance Director
  • Supporting monthend and yearend close processes
  • Ensuring compliance with local and national government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Proper recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions

Key Skills and Qualifications Required:


  • Essential experience with Xero; familiarity with other accounting software is advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Basic accounts or financial training
  • Previous experience and knowledge as a finance controller
  • Ability to handle change and produce significant output with mínimal supervision
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Passion for delivering highquality work and achieving goals
  • Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
