Managerial

Overall responsibilities include participating in co-ordination and delivery of the strategic and operational aspects of sexual health services across Cumbria.

This will reflect national and local priorities, including contributing to the strategic direction of North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust.

The Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) is the principal provider of integrated Sexual Health services across Cumbria.

We collaborate with Primary Care and third sector/charitable organisations to deliver seamless services, joined up access and treatment pathways; delivering services across a large geography via well-established out-reach clinics in dedicated and bespoke clinics in a variety of community venues.

Clinics offer the full range of level 3 GUM and SRH care including complex needs such as caring for people post sexual assault.

HIV is managed differently between the North and the South. In the North, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals Infectious Diseases team care for all people with HIV. In the South, HIV is cared for by our GUM consultants in Collaboration with Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Trust. The new consultant will be expected to provide HIV care under an Honorary contract with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.

The service provides system-wide clinical advice support and governance. The teams deliver training to a variety of partners and stakeholders including coil and implant training to GP practices. The consultants also provide assessment of GP competencies for those wishing to achieve specialist accreditation.

Advice and assistance is given in the development of ongoing training programmes for sexual health specialist courses, mentorship and assessment of clinical practice is provided.

GPs are welcomed into the service to learn from the clinicians.

The job plan is indicative and it is expected that the successful applicant will discuss this in detail, including which of the centres will be their base centre, and travelling time will be considered from that discussion.
