The Role
We are looking to recruit a committed and reliable Estates Officer to join our college.

The Estates department provides the College with a clean and well-maintained, fit for purpose estate that supports teaching and learnings.

In this role, you will have a responsibility for managing lettings on Saturdays and Sundays.

You will be responsible for opening and closing the college in accordance with college security procedures as well as setting up equipment for lettings.


This is a part-time, permanent, 31 hours per week position on an established rota system including evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. The salary will be paid on NJC scale 3 (actual salary £21,714) and is inclusive of Inner London Weighting.


Main Responsibilities

  • To have responsibility for unlocking and locking the College in accordance with College Security Procedures. This will include the operation of the College Alarm Systems.
  • To have responsibility for supervising the use of the MUGA sports pitch, which is used for Lettings. This will include ensuring that any hirers of this facility abide by all terms and conditions of use, including those of the 'Noise Management Policy' and the planning/timing requirements regarding the use of the floodlights.
  • To have responsibility for supervising evenings and weekend lettings bookings.
  • To supervise parttime cleaning staff (excluding the Daytime Cleaner) if required, and to maintain standards and arrange cleaning priorities.
  • To conduct general College security services, e.g. escorting students and visitors, viewing CCTV equipment.
  • To adhere to departmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • To carry out cleaning duties to the fabric and fittings of the College, including floors, walls, windows, light fittings, air grilles, sanitary appliances and furniture, etc.
  • Qualifications or commensurate experience in an Estates setting to enable you to carry out your role in compliance with current rules/guidelines.
  • Customer service skills to the highest level including the ability to speak politely but authoritatively to students and visitors.
  • The ability to work within a team and maintain a professional and efficient service to the College.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to prioritise your workload.
  • The ability to take appropriate action on your own initiative.
