Job Title:
Housekeeper - Preston Private Care Home


Midgery Lane Fulwood Preston PR2 9SX

Reporting to:
Home Manager


Job purpose:

To work as part of a team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the Care Centre, whilst ensuring a safe, comfortable environment always.


Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

Required:


  • Team player
  • Satisfactory Policy Check and check against the PoVA list
  • Ability to work on own initiative
At least 12 months experience.


Desired:


  • Experience/qualification in care for relevant Service User category

Main responsibilities

Cleaning:


  • Daily cleaning
  • Empty waste bins and wipe out
  • Vacuum throughout
  • Shake out cushions
  • Clean dining rooms/lounges/toilets
  • Clean taps and sinks
  • Clean soap dispenser outlets
  • Clean toothbrush holders
  • Spot clean all floorings
  • Wash all bathroom & toilet floors
  • Weekly cleaning
  • Polish all mirrors
  • Clean all pipe work in toilets
  • Dust handrails and radiators
  • Move all mobile furniture (including beds and chairs) and vacuum and dust beneath/behind
  • Wash out metal wastepaper bins
  • Dust and polish furniture and windowsills
  • Wash floor covering
  • Shampoo carpets as requested by Housekeeper
  • Restock toiletries, soaps, towels etc. as and when required

Communication:


  • Participate in Staff and Service User meetings as required
  • Complete all relevant documentation

Training and Development:


  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
  • Attend mandatory training days/course, on or off site as and when required

Health & Safety:


  • Adhere to the Care Centers disposal of waste policy
  • Report immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Service Users, colleague, self or another
  • Understand, and ensure the implementation of the Care Centers Health & Safety policy and Emergency and Fire procedures
  • Report to the Home Manager, Housekeeper, Handyperson or Person in Charge any faulty appliances, damaged furniture equipment or any potential hazard
  • Promote safe working practice in the Care Centre

General:


  • Ensure that all existing stocks are maintained in a safe and tidy environment
  • Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
  • Notify the Home Manager or Person in Charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and on your return to work from all periods of absence
  • Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Care Centre and the company
  • Ensure the security of the Care Centre is always maintained
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
