About the role:
This is new role in our dynamic External Affairs team.

Managing an established team of two Events Managers and an Events Assistant, the Events Lead will oversee and support ClientEarth's event portfolio, in the UK and internationally.

You will ensure the global events portfolio is delivered to a high standard, and on time and on budget.

You will help us develop a coordinated and effective events portfolio that supports our Development team, empowers our Public Affairs and Communications teams and engages stakeholders in our key geographies.

You will also advise and support regional teams with their events and lead on our programme of global virtual events.


Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by
Stephanie Pfeil. Stephanie leads ClientEarth's engagement with the external world and is accountable for the organisation's reputation, influence and income.

Stefanie has worked in fundraising for fifteen years, mainly in international development and the humanitarian sector and was in senior leadership positions in Farm Africa, International Rescue Committee UK and War on Want.

She was also a board member at Jubilee Debt Campaign and Refugee Action, and set up a networking group for women in international development.

Through her work in sub-Saharan Africa, she has seen first hand the impact of climate change on the most vulnerable, and that lead her to ClientEarth.

Stefanie is currently a member of the Global Supervisory Board of CARE International.

Main Duties

  • Coordinate and implement our global events programme that supports ClientEarth's development and communication strategy.
  • Manage a range of events in a variety of locations, leading on high profile events and supporting the team managing a range of different events.
  • Daytoday line Management, including work allocation, of two Events Managers, who are supported by an Events Assistant.

Role requirements

  • Substantial experience and proven success in leading a wide variety of engaging events in a NGO/policy/philanthropy or legal context
  • Experience in managing events remotely, for example arranging a fundraising event in another country or international conference activity
  • Budget management experience
  • Direct line management experience, including managing and motivating staff and the performance management cycle
  • Fluent in English (CEFR level C2)
