Description

The Mechanical Operative will be responsible for the day-to-day assembly and fitting of mechanical sub-assemblies and general assembly of finished goods.

The position requires the ability to work within a team and to interact with other departments within the company. The role is varied and requires the appointee to be organised, methodical and willing to learn new skills. The applicant must be keen to handle multiple tasks and be flexible, work well under pressure. The position will report to the Operations Manager and will be located at the Company's offices/factory in Reading.


Responsibilities

  • Day to day assembly and fitting of mechanical subassemblies and general assemblies of finished product.
  • Basic product testing and inspection, pressure testing, seal integrity, finish quality.
  • Preparedness to clean and maintain assembled product after testing in preparation for packing.
  • Preparedness to help pick BOM's within the component stores when demand requires.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Supervisor to meet day to day requirements and meet output targets,
  • Ensure all products are Assembled /Fitted /Tested accurately within the companies required quality objectives.
  • Liaising with the production department on shortages, damages, quality issues and/or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain and keep always clean their work area, be aware of hazards and health and safety matters arising and report any incidents to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Adherence to all health, safety, and environmental standards in accordance with our clients' procedures and processes reporting all health, safety, environmental issues, and concerns.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

  • Apprenticeship in a mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience.
  • City & Guilds/ONC Diploma, or equivalent. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to read and work with AutoCAD 2D & Solid works 3D CAD drawings.
  • Use and safe operation of all Engineering Hand tools.
  • Familiar with Operation of a basic Centre Lathe Machine Tool.
  • Use and safe operation of Mains Powered and batteryoperated portable tools.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with multi skilled engineering team.
  • Comfortable to work on their own initiative, however training and assistance will be provided.
  • Good dexterity and 'Eye for detail.'
  • Comfortable communicating and relaying information to design engineers,

Beneficial:


  • Basic Hand soldering of electronic connectors, switches, and assemblies.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic assembly documents and wiring schedules.
  • Familiarity in 5S Production Methodology
  • Experience in operating and Maintaining 3D Print Machine e.g Ultimaker

Job Types:

Salary:
£28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
