Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

To work as a member of the nursing team, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse delivering care to patients.

To work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to assist in the continuity of care

To assist in the maintenance of a safe, clean and comfortable ward environment.

To complete Trust training and education programmes commensurate with the role

A good standard of education
Ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to the role

Experience:

Essential criteria:

At least six months experience as a HCA in an acute setting, or within an adult community (district) setting
OR A student nurse, or medical student having completed their first placement

Skills & Aptitudes:

Good written and verbal communication skills
A working knowledge of undertaking basic observations, and the principles surrounding this. Must be able to take blood pressures with a manual and electronic device
