Our client is a multi-award winning barristers' set which is frequently praised for its friendly and helpful clerking, the quality of its members' work and for its reliability.

Home to around 55 barristers who are supported by a highly skilled administrative team, Chambers is highly regarded in each of its specialist areas.


Key duties:


  • Answer calls politely and efficiently, transfer callers to the appropriate barrister or clerk, take accurate and detailed messages.
  • Meet and greet clients and visitors, offering refreshments as appropriate.
  • Keep the reception, kitchen, conference rooms, public and stationery areas clean and tidy at all times.
  • Carry out regular premises checks throughout the day, replenishing supplies and resetting conference rooms as they become available.
  • Manage and maintain the conference room booking diary including all supplementary requirements such as video and telephone conferencing, AV, catering, etc.
  • Host and support barristers and staff with online conferences, hearings and events using Zoom and Teams.
  • Manage the administration of the minipupillage scheme and provide support to the pupillage committee as required
  • Organise the schedule of individual practice development meetings, booking in individual meetings for barristers on a rolling basis
  • Place orders for catering, as required. Prepare and serve tea/coffee for conference rooms and arrange lunches as required.
  • Accept deliveries and manage post
  • Arrange restaurant bookings, travel and hotel reservations
  • Provide administrative support to the Chambers marketing and clerking team including data entry and updates on LEX
  • Assist with set up for marketing functions before, during or after normal working hours as required.
  • Any other duties as may be required.

Personal qualities and knowledge

  • Well presented, confident, warm and friendly
  • Able to build effective working relationships with internal and external clients, and to deliver excellent service.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels, in writing and orally.
  • An excellent telephone manner
  • Strong efficiency and punctuality.
  • Sound organisational skills
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Teams. Experience of LEX and
Zoom desirable but not essential

  • Previous Chambers experience would be an advantage

Hours:09:00 - 17:30, Monday - Friday with 1hr for lunch (37.5hrs/wk). Some flexibility may also be required as there will be occasions when the Receptionist will be asked to administer or attend evening events.
