This is a substantive Consultant post to work within the gynaecology department within the menopause service to provide and further develop care for women within Women's Health.

The department has a commitment to a high level of training for all grades of staff working in maternity and the post-holder will be expected to take part in providing this training.

The post-holder will be expected to take the lead in developing services, guidelines and standards for the care of women.


Attendance at the monthly management team meeting and regular Consultant meeting (forming part of the audit morning in the Trust when other non-emergency clinical activity is cancelled) is expected of all Consultants.

Involvement with clinical governance activities including undertaking risk management investigations as required is also expected of all Consultants in the department

  • The provision of a first class clinical service
  • Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
  • Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London
  • Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
  • Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans
  • Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust.

  • Together with the other Consultants to provide obstetrics and gynaecology services for women attending King's College Hospital. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties required for the proper functioning of the department.
  • See patients in new patient and follow up endocrine menopause clinic
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
  • Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
  • To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.
  • To contribute to the Audit Programme.
