About the opportunity:


We are currently looking for a
Trainee Cable Jointers and Multi Utility Apprentices to join our Operations North department (preferable locations
:Preston, Manchester, Stoke on Trent, Leeds/Wakefield).


Due to continued growth, we are seeking to build on our existing craft delivery teams by investing in new talent through our craft traineeships.


Our cable jointing traineeship is a structured training programme that includes a mixture of training at our internal group training school and on the job learning to gain first-hand experience.

Trainees will learn about the installation and jointing of electrical low voltage cables.

This includes Low Voltage (LV) service and mains jointing, LV pillars, link-boxes, substations take off chambers, earthing and all activities connected to these works.


Safety is at the forefront of all works completed at Energetics so you will be trained is all aspects of safe working practices.


Main Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Jointer with domestic, industrial, and commercial electrical connections.
  • Jointers mates' duties service terminations, mixing resin and general housekeeping of the company vehicle and work areas.
  • LV service and mains jointing activities.
  • All aspects of cable testing including voltage, polarity, insulation resistance, continuity, and earth loop impedance.
  • Completion of risk assessments and maintain safe working practices and maintaining accurate records.
  • Complete work to the correct Energetics and DNO specifications.
  • Efficient use of materials.
  • Correct use of tools, plant, and PPE.
  • Read and understand work instructions, plans and drawings prior to any work commencement.
  • Carry out works in line with established safety procedures.
  • Remain responsible for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment in this role.
  • Maintain and develop competence levels and technical skills to ensure delivery to a high standard.

Experience / Knowledge:

The ability to follow written and spoken instructions

Good team player

An interest in learning new skills and building a career in the utility / construction sector

A dedicated and reliable person

IT adaptable and willing to learn internal apps. required to complete the electronic documentation via team tablet.

Flexible and willing to adapt to new tasks and duties

Organised, methodical approach to work with excellent time management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
