Over recent years, the Service has undertaken significant change to improve our customer experience and our financial sustainability. A new Executive team was established last year to bring the Service on the next phase of its journey.

The Financial Ombudsman Service is still at the early stages of its transformation and we are reimagining the future customer journey; we have big ambitions and we're determined to move at pace.

Our organisation needs to be confident that when we are delivering projects within our transformation portfolio we always offer the best possible value to our internal and external customers.

As our Benefits & Costs Lead you will own the Transformation Programme business case (the programme delivering our future customer journey), constantly assessing whether value could be maximised by accelerating some initiatives and by identifying possible areas for further improvements.

As such you will be involved across strategic projects and transformation initiatives.

This will include developing and implementing a benefits realisation plan, monitoring progress towards benefits realisation, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for identifying and mitigating any issues that could prevent the realisation of benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Creating a benefits realisation framework that can be adopted across transformation and continuous improvement, so that the return on investment can be tracked on an initiative basis.
  • Identifying and quantifying potential benefits of a project or programme
  • Identifying and mitigating risks to benefits realisation
  • Establishing reporting dashboards and governance cadence to create review and feedback loop opportunities so that teams are continuously understanding the impact of their interventions and pivoting where necessary if the desired benefits are not being achieved
  • Liaising with the Finance team to establish ROI evaluation and governance
  • To be considered for this role, you'll need to show us that you've got the skills and capabilities.

You'll have to meet the following minimum criteria:
