Brief Description:

You'll help keep our nation moving every single day. A critical part of the work we do is the daily upkeep of the rail network.


Your role is a tactical role to assist the Section Manager in the inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets to standards and within agreed resource levels, budget and unit cost measures.

You will supervise the delivery of work and undertake specific inspections as required. Assist in the management of staff as directed.


About the role (External):


Key Accountabilities:


  • Superviseand check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant tostandards.
  • Carryout work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures,method statements and other instructions.
  • Adhereto company policies and procedures.
  • Undertakespecific inspections in accordance with standards as directed.
  • Prioritisework arising.
  • Preparework and resource specifications and method statements including Safe System ofWork Plans.
  • Assistin the development of work plans that enables work to be delivered safely,efficiently and compliant to standards.
  • Assistin the identification and proposal of asset renewals.
  • Assistin the allocation of resources.
  • Deliverwork in accordance with the relevant maintenance plans.
  • Provideappropriate information to update systems, databases and records.
  • Undertakea programme of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance and asset conditionchecks as directed.
  • Assistin the management, control and discipline of staff as directed.
  • Assistin the monitoring and review of staff competence and welfare.
  • Contributeto your own development and that of others.

Experience,skills, knowledge and competencies

  • Experienceof directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work.
  • Knowledgeof resource and work organisation/planning processes and systems.
  • Knowledgeand experience of rail testing & lubrication inspection, maintenance, renewaland asset condition assessment techniques.
  • Knowledgeof relevant standards, procedures and instructions.
  • Awarenessof cost and waste control techniques.
  • Ableto demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
  • Ableto communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ableto coach, influence and develop others.
  • Holdand retain competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
  • Ableand willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.

Salary:
Maintenance Grade role.

The assessment process will consist of a group exercise, and competency and technical interview
