Job Purpose

Love working outdoors? Have a love of all things water? We are looking for someone to operate a weed boat based preferably in the East of London.

This position is being advertised as a seasonal role for approximately 5 months or potentially even longer

Travel expenses and mooring of own boat can be accommodated.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

About the role:

This role will require operating a weed boat outdoors, so it's important that you enjoy all weathers. There will also be a physical element to this job including operating the canal locks and changing boat attachments.

Responsibilities:

Operating a weed boat (conver style) in all weathers (no cabin) in the East London area preferably
Reporting in using smart phones and boat intercom systems
Carry out boat checks to ensure the boat is ready and fit for use
Managing disposal operatives including lorry offloads and clearing out hoppers
Use technology to communicate with the office regarding jobs and workload
Representing our company on a highly visible project
Lone working in line with our company lone working policy
Working with the client and volunteers on the project
Liaising with the public
Have a proactive and common sense approach

Essential:

Must have a valid UK driving license as you will be expected to drive company vehicles
Experience of moving & operating canal boats

Desirable:

Helmsman License
CSCS card
First Aid Trained
Slinger/Banksman

Please note the benefits depend on whether self employed or employed.

Must be able to travel between the west and centre of London. Cover will also sometimes be needed for the east of London too.

Job Types:

Contract length: 5 months

From £15.00 per hour
