The business has grown significantly over the last decade to become one of the leading players in this niche, high demand market.


The aim of the Financial Controller role is to develop a "centre of excellence" in the core finance functions of the business, which covers the full span of activities from initial recording of transactions through to reporting.

There is huge scope for enhanceduse of technology in the finance processes, in line with the company's Digital Transformation programme, so this opportunity will suit someone who is able to champion the use of technology and drive process improvements in all areas.


Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for leading a team of 35 (through 6 direct reports) and leading all aspects of the Group's transactional finance through AP, AR, Credit Control, Sales administration and Treasury, ensuring thatfinancial transactions are processed in an accurate, timely and effective manner.


You will be responsible for delivering the primary financial information to Group Financial Control, the FP&A/Commercial teams and Divisional Directors.


Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Champion the Digital Transformation agenda and leverage existing and new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency.
  • As part of the Senior Finance Leadership team, contribute to the design and implementation of departmental systems and processes and drive the development of a continuous improvement mindset at the heart of the team to deliver an effective and high performingfinance function.
  • Day to day management and support of an experienced Accounts Payable Manager and their team (10 staff), including:
  • Ensuring the correct tax/accounting treatment of purchase transactions
  • Reviewing and approving payment journals
  • Being the senior contact for the business, proactively liaising with senior stakeholders in the operational business to identify potential challenges and opportunities and supporting the team in the resolution of issues as they arise
  • Day to day management and support of an experienced Group Credit Manager and their team (20 staff), including:
  • Ensuring the correct tax/accounting treatment of sales transactions
  • Appraising significant credit requests for presentation to senior management for approval
  • Leading the partnership with Sales to ensure the right balance between cooperative support and financial control
  • Supporting the management and development of the Sales Admin team and related processes
  • Day to day management and support of the Treasury Team of 4:
  • Completing monthly FX deals as required
  • Guiding the team in resolving more complex reconciliation issues
  • Reviewing bank reconciliations
  • Monitoring and managing the cashflow forecast
  • Operational management of banks, ensuring signatories, dual signoff controls etc are kept up to date
  • Partnering with the business to ensure an efficient treasury process
  • Manage the capture, record and report process for £30m+ of group tangible and intangible assets, and support the FP&A team in understanding the balance.
  • Partner with the Facilities & Property team over IFRS16 to ensure the business accurately reflects all lease agreements.
  • Finance lead for travel and expenses; enhance system integration, review legacy arrangements and deliver insightful reporting.
  • Coaching and development of the Accounts Payable, Credit Control and Treasury teams; instilling a continuous improvement mindset to ensure that the function can grow their capabilities to support the business.
