Crisis is a coalition member of an exciting new campaign led by the Health Foundation, entitled Health Equals, that aims to grow public understanding of the structural factors that shape our health, including housing, work and income, and air quality.

Underneath this headline campaign sits three spotlight campaigns, focusing on these structural factors with the aim of influencing national policy across the UK to transform health opportunities for all.


Crisis is leading the spotlight campaign on housing so that everyone experiencing or at risk of experiencing health inequalities as a result of housing issues can access the affordable housing they need to thrive.

As a Senior Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Officer, you will sit within the Policy and Campaigns Team at Crisis and lead the development of Crisis' spotlight campaign in partnership with the Health Equals coalition.

Contract: 12 months fixed term contract


About the role


As a Senior Policy and Parliamentary Affairs Officer, you will lead a 12-month policy and influencing project focused on tackling the link between health inequalities and unaffordable housing, as part of the Health Equals campaign.

You'll be part of an ambitious and motivated team playing a critical role in delivering real and impactful policy changes to end homelessness, for good.


You will be responsible for ensuring that Crisis' and Health Equals' influencing in the area of health inequalities and housing is informed by expert policy analysis and robust evidence.

The postholder will work in partnership with Health Equals coalition members and wider stakeholders to develop evidence-based policy solutions; develop and deliver an effective public affairs strategy; build relationships with key stakeholders, including politicians and officials; and ensure lived experience involvement throughout the project.


About you


To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience of leading proactive programmes of policy work that are underpinned by evidence, informed by political intelligence and developed with meaningful involvement from people with lived experience of the issue.

You will have a track record of building successful relationships with officials, politicians and other stakeholders, and successfully influencing to achieve policy change.

You will be experienced in working closely in partnership with other organisations.


You will have experience working in policy; public affairs and political influencing, including in the health and/or housing space, and may have experience working on public-facing campaigns.
