Job summary:


  • Our Head of Business Support plays a key role in leading our work in Scotland. Ensuring we make best use of our resources, track impact, deliver high quality governance, plan well and support our people you will lead a team and work across the organisation to build strong working relationships across a range of functions. As part of our senior management team in Scotland you will help ensure we delivery our new strategy, It Starts With Community, in line with the needs and aspirations of communities and our wider operating environment.

Job description:

This is a varied role supporting the full spectrum of our work.

You will manage a small multi-faceted team responsible for all aspects of administrative delivery in Scotland including our office environment, first line customer service, supporting non-executive governance and data analysis.

Leading on business planning, budgeting and performance monitoring you will work with business partners in our finance and people teams to ensure we are on track and making best use of resources.

You will also lead local people related work shaping our resource planning, training and helping ensure colleagues are supported to do their best work.

Leading on governance you will ensure that our Scotland Committee is fully supported and able to make the best decisions about how we use National Lottery money to support communities.

Alongside fellow senior leaders you will have a strong role in planning and delivering around £60M of grant funding every year to communities all over Scotland.

A capable and confident leader you will have the ability to balance a varied workload.

Equally adept at handling complex financial and performance information and providing empathetic support to colleagues you will display sound judgement and display high standards of customer service.

This will be underpinned by a strong understanding of the environment and sectors we work in.


Person specification:


Essential criteria

  • Experience and understanding of the strategic and operational environment and sectors that the Fund operates within in Scotland
  • You will be able to exercise effective judgment that supports the delivery of management support
  • You will have experience of managing complex budgets and preparing and interpreting management account information
  • Leading and supporting teams to deliver an excellent service

Desirable criteria

  • Significant experience of collaborating with customers to create effective services.
  • Experience of managing, complex and competing problems
  • Proven ability to articulate ambitions that resonate with team members and customers
  • Experience of effective contract management and positive customer relationship management
