We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Designer's Site Representative** to join our highways team working on the M25 J28 project in the South East.


Our highway engineering teams are recognised industry leaders and operate across several markets including strategic roads, local roads and private developments.

We work for a range of clients include national government agencies, local authorities, developers and contractors. We use the latest design software and techniques to produce innovative and efficient design solutions for our clients.


What does the role involve?


As part of our team delivering the National Highways Regional Delivery Partnership (RDP), you will provide the interface between our office-based design teams and the Contractor delivering the construction of the project.

You will work with the Contractor and our teams taking the lead to ensure the construction is carried out in compliance with the provisions of the construction requirements and the other applicable provisions of the contract.

You will be responsible for resolving technical and commercial issues as they occur and monitoring progress in your areas of responsibility.


Key duties will include:

  • Ensuring the construction team fully understand the design and providing further clarity if required.
  • Working with the construction team and our design teams where necessary to modify the design taking account of site variations, errors, etc.
  • Raising and responding to technical queries, requests for information, etc. Where required you will manage requests and responses to queries working with our officebased designers
  • Ensuring work is carried out in compliance with the designs and specifications.

To be successful in this role you'll possess:

  • Detailed experience with a good track record in undertaking the design and producing deliverables. (e.g. preparation of layout plans, detailed design drawings, calculations, specifications and Designer's Risk Assessments) for highways projects.
  • Experience undertaking a similar, sitebased role.
  • To be able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • A sound understanding of highway design to meet the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and to ensure Safety by Design best practices are achieved.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good all round understanding of quality management systems and processes, financial project management systems, business and commercial issues.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (or equivalent).
