Strode College has a rare and exciting opportunity for passionate and inspirational Adult Skills Tutor.


We are looking for a motivated individual to be an Adult Skills Tutor across our range of home-based learning courses.

We are looking for someone who will be able to assess across a number of courses including learning support in schools and colleges, mental health and business administration.

The tutor will be responsible for managing the student learning experience from interview through to assessment, providing feedback on assignments and guiding the learners through their course.

You will be required to support a diverse range of learners to make progress to achieve their individual goals. This role will also include the delivery of short remote courses and may include some face-to-face support with learners where needed

Job Purpose


The Adult Skills tutor/ Advisor will be responsible for the delivery of a range of qualifications including Employability, Business Administration, Customer Service and Mental Health Awareness and the expanding curriculum to our adult learners.

To include Traineeship teaching.

Main Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for teaching, appropriate organisation, lesson preparation, marking, assessment, and all administration involved in teaching.
  • To provide information, advice and guidance interviews to potential learners to ensure they enrol on the correct course and follow college enrolment procedures within the parameters of AEB funding.
  • To ensure that at all times the Adult Skills provision is a professional, friendly and welcoming environment in which students of all abilities are able to progress their learning and achieve their full potential to progress personally or within a chosen career.
  • To provide and plan for additional learner support wherever necessary.
  • To support the Adult Skills Manager in the development and marketing of new courses and adult provision.
  • To keep appropriate registers and records and to support the day to day administration of Adult Skills, including the Equal system.
  • To be proactive in the marketing of courses to individuals, employers and organisations in the local area. Attend open evenings and promotional events which may be at days/ times outside of normal teaching contact times.
  • To comply with the College's policies and procedures including Health and Safety Legislation, Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults and those covering all aspects of Equality and Diversity
  • To comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR"). It is the responsibility of individual staff members to protect data and to take all reasonable steps to ensure data are kept securely.
  • Any other duties as required as may, from time to time, be deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post. This may occasionally involve cover, by agreement and consultation, for absent colleagues.

  • To be responsible for your own continuing selfdevelopment, undertaking training as appropriate to the working environment and developments in your role and to participate in annual appraisal and review processes.
  • Always adhere to the Staff Professional Code of Conduct as a representative of the College and to comply with all college policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Principal or your Manager, which are commensurate with the level of your post, to meet the changing needs and demands of the College.
