A new exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed sustainability professional to join our busy Property Team within the Estates & Facilities Division_.

_


As an Environmental and Sustainability Officer, your role will be to support the Property and Sustainability Team in implementing the Trust's Travel Plan and Green Plan's transportation chapter.


You will be actively managing keys systems linked to our Travel Plan as well as managing key relationships with major stakeholders such as Nottingham City Council, and the different public transport operators in the region.

As a centre of excellence, you will work to ensure the Trust can offer its staff, patients and visitors sustainable alternatives to access our services.

Main duties of the job


The post holder will address the Trust's sustainable travel agenda ensuring best practice and value for money in relation to the Trust's sustainable travel budget, managed services and the related impact to the environment.

The role will encompass working in multiple campuses and sites, covering:
Management and reporting of sustainable travel facilities usage and costs.

Access improvement projects (e.g. cycling compounds, etc.)

Supporting delivery of the NUH Green Plan and NUH Travel Plan.

The issue and analysis of staff and visitors Travel Surveys

Manage Relationships with Key stakeholders internally and externally (e.g. Wellbeing Team, Communications Team, Nottingham City Council, Public Transport Operators)

Conduct campaigns to promote sustainable travel.

Assess the existing infrastructure and create case of need and business case for change/improvement.


Manage Key services linked to sustainable commute and the Trust's Travel plan such as the Trust's Travel to Work Scheme which provides discounted public transport and support the cycle to work scheme.

To manage a number of sustainable travel initiatives:
Car sharing scheme

Public Transport Schemes

Active Travel Schemes (cycle lockers, etc.)

Staff and Visitors Travel Survey

Trust intranet and website travel and access information

To deliver the Trust Travel Plan, measuring performance and updating as required.


To provide advice to staff in the Trust on Travel planning options and work with external agencies to improve that choice.

To liaise with public transport operators to recommend travel schemes beneficial for NUH Staff.

To undertake audits of access facilities (including cycling) identifying priorities for improvement.


To liaise with Estate and Facilitates colleagues and local authority to ensure the timely delivery of high quality cycle facilities in areas of greatest need.


To work with the Staff Wellbeing team on the promotion of cycling and sustainable travel choices in consultation with relevant partners (internal and external).


Supervise data collection efforts and record data in a concise, functional and complaint standard and review the data to ensure it if fit for purpose before wider dissemination.

Essential criteria

  • The post holder will be educated to Degree level in an environmental/sustainability discipline.
Desirable criteria

  • Working towards a post graduate qualification in an environmental/sustainability discipline.
Experience
