The only UK-wide charity that empowers family farms and rural communities to ensure their future are looking to appoint a
Communication Manager to join their team.


The charity has invested more than £10m in more than 400 projects working across the UK which improve service provision in rural areas, support farming businesses and rural enterprises, and provide training opportunities for young people.?They've supportednearly 1,000 farming families through the trust's programmes and helped many others to access local support when it is needed most.


As
Communications Manager, you will ensure their voices of family run farms and the rural community are heard and they receive the local support they need to look after our countryside and to thrive.

This role is central in delivering theFund's objective of driving awareness of the issues facing the countryside and their work to a diverse audience.

Supervised by the Head of External Affairs, this role will support the delivery of a strategy to increase the charity's visibility through allmedia channels (traditional and digital).


What your day to day might look like

Communications

  • As the
    Communications Manager, you will deliver communications according to agreed targets in the Communications Strategy across all channels.
  • Working with the Head of External Affairs, develop and implement communications plans for all Fund communications campaigns, and ensure their timely delivery.
  • Coordinate project specific communications activity across farming and rural strategy pillars and cross cutting themes.

Lead on press office activity including drafting releases, features, and comments according to the Communications Strategy for publication on the PCF website and distribution to media contacts

  • Lead on reporting on communications activity to the Board of Trustees and others, as necessary.
  • Proactively engage with and develop key journalistic contacts and manage contact database to ensure relevant content is circulated as appropriate.
  • Maintain the house style guide and ensure compliance across all communications; provide proofreading and copyediting support across the organisation.
Events

  • Manage the events calendar, planning, and delivery of PCF events, liaising with contractors, external agencies, venues, photographers, journalists, invitees, etc to ensure their smooth running.
  • Oversee reporting on the success and impact of PCF events using e.g. Salesforce, Eventbrite.

Liaise with the team including the Royal Household's press office to lead on the smooth running and reporting of royal events and Away Days.

What you will bring

  • Knowledge of communications planning.
  • Knowledge of communications, media and PR.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Knowledge or interest in farming and the countryside is advantageous.
  • Experience of writing for different audiences.
  • Experience of working within a team, possibly as part of a busy in house or PR agency environment.
  • Experience of organising the PR for events and campaigns (essential).
  • The ability to build relationships, and network with people at all levels including those in senior positions and the Royal Household.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm and affinity for the work of the Fund and rural matters.
  • Provides feedback and support.
