Hours:
Full time, permanent contract


Salary: 45,000-50,000 dependant on experience


A large and reputable manufacturer based in Warwickshire is looking for an experienced Strategic Production Buyer to join their project team.

Due to expansion the company is looking for an individual with strategic buying experience to work alongside the Production Manager on a project to manufacture complex components within the automotive industry.

The role of Strategic Production Buyer will rely on the ability to build strong lasting relationships with suppliers catering for the production of high performance motors and integrated power electronics.


Main responsibilities:

  • Working with the Supplier Development function, create a bidders list for each commodity and develop an RFI and RFQ documents and processes
  • Prepare comparisons and recommendations of recommended sources
  • Analyse supplier quotations and proposals, using QAF (Quotation Analysis Form) if appropriate
  • Participate in establishing a model LTA (Long Term [supplier] Agreement)
  • Set up sourced items in Sage 200 ERP system enabling production orders to be issued correctly
  • Fully support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities, addressing prototype and preproduction component supply with makelikeproduction sources
  • Maintain and report supply chain KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Plan and maintain an ongoing supply chain improvement process employing tools such as VA/VE or periodic benchmarking
  • Proactively support the roadmap to achieving required accreditations such as IATF16949, ISO26262 and ISO1400

To be considered for this role:

  • Full Membership or Chartered Membership of CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) or equivalent
  • Experience production / strategic purchasing in a quality manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrable experience ERP System such as Sage or SAP
  • Proven track record of influencing decision making in terms of design for manufacture through long term supplier relationships
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of supply contracts and incorporation of Terms & Conditions of Purchase
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Availability to travel within the UK and overseas as required to support business needs
