Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a psychology graduate to join a busy CAMHS service with a number of specialty areas, including paediatric liaison, ADHD & neurodevelopmental assessment, under supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

Part of the role is providing data support to the service as a whole.

The role will also involve management of the service's ADHD and complex developmental disorder assessment pathways, and attendance at these assessments.

There are clinical opportunities available, including involvement in a support group for parents of young people with a diagnosis of ADHD.

The post holder will learn about clinical conditions by being based in the varied and experienced team.

This CAMHS also provides psychological support to young people with physical health conditions who receive healthcare from the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust; the post holder will have opportunity to learn about clinical psychology input for those with physical conditions, including diabetes and IBD.

including paediatric liaison, ADHD and neurodevelopmental assessment,

under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist

  • To manage and be involved with the ADHD clinic and complex
neurodevelopmental assessment clinic pathways, including managing

referrals, processing screening questionnaires, liaising with families, summarising case notes and supporting the assessment appointments

  • To contribute to outcome monitoring and service evaluation of the Royal

Free CAMHS


Tasks include:

administrating and scoring of standardised

assessments; data input; database maintenance; data analysis; reporting.

  • To develop and manage the existing departmental activity databases
  • To contribute to and carry out audit activities, including information
requests and commissioner reports

  • To contribute to other clinical services of the department as required,
including a support group for parents of young people with a diagnosis of ADHD and low intensity psychological interventions for young people on the psychology waiting list


Our CAMHS MDT is varied, comprised of clinical psychologists, child psychotherapists, family therapists, mental health nurses and child & adolescent psychiatrists.

We also have placements with psychotherapy students and trainee clinical psychologists. The role is flexible with days in the office and working from home.

To contribute to clinical discussions through the provision of feedback of standardised measures under the supervision of a senior member of the Clinical Psychology Team.


There will be opportunities to contribute to the clinical work of the department by undertaking grade appropriate tasks such as a school observation, shadowing appointments, assisting with group interventions, carrying out low intensity psychological interventions with young people and families, and presence in ADHD assessments and complex neurodevelopmental assessments.

These will be under the supervision of a member of the clinical psychology team.

To undertake such duties and responsibilities, appropriate to the grade of the post, as may be agreed with the line manager.


  • RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
Day to day management of data collection, e.g. questionnaire administration and scoring

Data entry

Responding to both internal and external data requests

Supporting other members of staff to meet the data collection requirements of the team

Managing departmental databases under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist including data analysis and routine reporting

Conducting literature searches under the guidance of a Clinical Psychologist in research and evaluation


To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology within the service area, by exercising the skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of clinical/counselling psychology and related disciplines.

The post holder will attend the departmental psychology meetings, which offer opportunities for case discussion and teaching
