Salary £23,114 - £23,893 Per annum | Fixed Term, Full time, until March 2025, 37 hours per week | Early Help - Chorley and South Ribble

We have a vacancy for a Neighbourhood Group Worker, reporting to a relevant Senior Family Support Worker / Lead Group Worker.


Post holders will deliver group work and drop-in support services at our Family Hubs, community settings and in partnership with other agencies as directed.


The role of a Neighbourhood Group Worker is a varied role, which includes the delivery of group work to Early Childhood (0-5), The Developing Child (5-11), and Parenting and Family Support.

As a 'Neighbourhood Group Worker' you will be expected to:

  • Understand the needs of children and families and deliver group work programmes related to relevant areas such as health & wellbeing, lifestyle, parenting, relationships,
  • Develop and deliver a range of programmes of activities which meet identified needs
  • Develop relationships with children and parents based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to explore their needs, learn and develop
  • Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour during group based programme delivery
  • Resource and building duties, which may include: opening up buildings for service delivery use and securing after, preparing buildings/resources, checking their suitability for use.
  • Attend regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and local policy developments
  • Undertake administrative tasks which assist with maintaining effective recording systems for group work
  • Respect confidentiality and be able when necessary to explain to parents/carers when there is need to share information with others in order to protect children.
  • Demonstrate consistently high standards of practice that put the needs of children at the forefront of all activity.
  • Identify opportunities for improving day to day procedures and processes within the team or work area, and contributing these to team planning, to support the continuous improvement of services.
  • Operating in accordance to service policy and procedures and relevant standards for groupwork.
  • Monitoring, review and evaluate their by engaging with the County Council's Performance Engagement process. Take appropriate corrective action as necessary.
  • Visibly and actively supporting and promoting the corporate activities and the values of the Council.

Qualification Details:
Professional and/or academic level 2 or above qualification or equivalent or substantial experience in a relevant technical, specialised, or operational field
