We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual to join our reception team at Royal Preston Hospital.


As an Outpatient Receptionist, you will provide front of house service to all visiting outpatients, while playing a key role in the provision of Outpatient Appointment Booking Services.

You will possess excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail being a key characteristic.


You will ensure that standards of service are maintained, have a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery and be pro-active in the implementation of the 'Patient Choice' development process.

  • Perform an ambassadorial role, representing the Children's
Outpatient Department "Front of House" service acting in a
professional, courteous and customer-focused manner at all times.

  • Answer telephone queries, take messages, direct where appropriate meet and greet and provide assistance directing visitors to the
Department to appropriate locations

  • Participate and contribute to developments in Customer Service
provisions in line with Trust Policies.

  • Use initiative to resolve conflicts in a mutually agreeable way,
alerting manager where necessary.

  • Ensure that up to date information is available regarding activity
within all departments so that queries can be answered promptly and
accurately.

  • Communicates with a range of staff, users and visitors to the Trust /
Department utilizing a variety of communication methods including
verbal, electronic and passing information in a format that is
appropriate to the individual request.

  • Data Entry
  • Utilisation of local or Trust case note tracking system
  • To prepare clinics and ensure medical and nursing team are
supported throughout clinic.

  • Accessing referrals, booking new and follow up appointments
  • Cancelation of clinics
