Post-doctoral Research Associate in Energy Demand - Reading, United Kingdom - University of Reading
Description
An exciting opportunity to join a project at the forefront of research into Energy Demand for Heating and Cooling has become available.
We are seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to join our research team researching thermal storage technology performance in relation to energy demand patterns at different scales.
The project will look at energy demand temporalities and the association of these temporalities to the operation of the thermal storage technology being investigated in the project.
This will primarily be through modelling of technology functionality and use of the proposed technology at different scales (both spatial and temporal).
The project will use, and further develop, existing models of energy systems analysis and pick up on work carried out on the analysis of heat demand data.
The project will provide a valuable opportunity for challenging thermal storage capacity in relation to different timescales of environmental influences on both technology performance and human activity.
Key tasks include:
> Use and development of energy demand models from building scale to wider network scale
> Development of case studies for evaluating the impact of energy demand behaviours and environmental drivers (i.e. meteorology) on technology performance
> Preparation of conference and journal research outputs
> Engage with wider research community
You will have:
- Excellent programming skills preferably as applied to energy network modelling
- Ability to carry out advanced data analytics on large data sets
- Experience (or indepth knowledge of) mathematical modelling techniques
- Ability to appropriately use and develop research case studies
- Excellent communication skills
- Postgraduate research experience in energy demand
- Doctorate in a relevant specialism
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Record of publications commensurate with career stage
Interviews will be held on 24 March
