Purpose and overview of the role


The Ealing Early Intervention Service is a newly commissioned service by the London Borough of Ealing, following a successful bid for this contract from the Anna Freud Centre.

The post-holder will be primarily based in Ealing but sits within the Clinical Help offer of our Schools Division.

The post-holder will manage and clinically lead two teams: one a specialist outreach team working in Ealing schools and the other a community emotional wellbeing team, comprising a multi-disciplinary core team of mental health professionals specialising in work with children, young people and families.

Each team will have a senior practitioner/operational lead to support the Head of Service.

This role is designed to ensure the safe and effective delivery of delivering mild to moderate mental health interventions in schools and in the community.

The service is an exciting and innovative partnership with the London Borough of Ealing.

Practitioners with a wide range of backgrounds are and will be employed to deliver a suite of interventions focusing on brief, evidence-based interventions, including group work and single session offers.

The Head of Service will have significant training and supervisory responsibility for the two teams, supported by the Head of Clinical Help in Schools at the Anna Freud Centre.

The Head of Service will coordinate multiple clinical offers delivered by the service and lead in the innovation and running of these.

The post-holder will fulfil strategic functions and senior operational functions, supporting the operational staff.

The strategic responsibilities focus on supporting the development, delivery and reporting of the Ealing Early Intervention Service and contributing as an active member of the Clinical Help offer to the development of the Schools Division, including progression of objectives and impact on outcomes.

The operational leadership includes the oversight of referrals and clinical practice across a range of clinical offers, offering both assessment and interventions to young people, families and school staff.

The post-holder will ensure evaluation of outcomes is delivered both in reporting to the Local Authority and for ongoing learning and development for the teams.


Main responsibilities of the role
Delivery

  • To provide clinical coordination for referral pathways, working within a single point of access framework being implemented across the London Borough of Ealing;
  • To work in partnership with schools, social care, GPs, children and families to assess and respond to the psychological needs of children experiencing social, emotional, mental health or behavioural difficulties;
  • To chair weekly team meetings;
  • To oversee the allocation of referrals to practitioners;
  • To lead on user participation, ensuring this is embedded within the service;
  • To undertake supervision of and coworking with designated members of staff and through these, seek to increase clinical skills, expertise and effectiveness of services offered;
  • To undertake supervision and development of trainees in the department;
  • To report to the Head of Clinical Help, Schools Division on leading of a wellcoordinated and coherent clinical offer;
  • To coordinate termly reporting and represent the service at commissioning and contract review meetings;
  • Ensure that the project maintains the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional selfgovernance in accordance with professional codes of practice;
  • Ensure all work is sensitive to the needs of a range of ethnic, cultural and religious groups, is gender sensitive, antidiscriminatory and values diversity; Managerial
