Join us as a Macro Space Co-Ordinator and you'll be placed at the centre of the largest change programme in Sainsbury's history.

Your analysis and recommendations will influence key decisions on the major "Win in Food" strategy, while also granting you exposure to multiple stakeholders across all functions in the broader group.

You will be responsible for creating the optimal space allocations to deliver the best commercial and customer outcomes.


We're looking for someone with strong excel skills and store knowledge who'll be able analyse complex data sets and use their communication skills to present back to key stakeholders with the support of the Macro Space analysts & Manager.


As a Macro Space Co-ordinator you'll:

  • Support a Macro Space programme of change across Food space that will successfully deliver the corporate strategy.
  • Support analytics across key programmes impacting Food space (including the Supermarket Space Optimisation Programme, New Format Development and Big Bets, amongst many others).
  • Be one of the key contacts in space for trading teams across Fresh and Grocery; working closely with multiple stakeholders across the business to deliver incremental sales, volume and profit growth.
  • Work alongside internal and external teams to support the development of our industry leading tools and models
  • Work with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders to get buy in for these models e.g. Strategy, Trading, Finance, Retail and Property
  • Constantly evaluate the performance of stores and categories to ensure we spot opportunities to improve our utilisation of space
  • Provide support to Macro Space Manager & Macro Space Analysts on various space projects as and when required; and take ownership of projects assigned.
  • Support wider space team with commercial tools to support landing most effective changes on floor plans.

Our Macro Space team would love to see:
Ability to clearly articulate outputs from space analysis; and understand the impact they will have on various stakeholders.

Awareness of category vision and how space optimisation can drive sustainable growth as well as achieving strategic initiatives.

Engage successfully with stakeholders across various functions.

Deadlines in critical path are met, managing time effectively across projects.

Commercial and broader Grocery market understanding

Analytical mindset - experienced and skilled in data manipulation and analysis with ability to focus on key issues

Effective organisation and time management skills

MS Office, in particular Excel required (and PowerPoint desirable)

MicroStrategy experience desirable (BI tool)

JDA experience desirable
